Our History

At HireLivin Homecare, our story begins with a promise to provide exceptional care in the comfort of your home. Built on decades of hands-on experience and a trusted reputation in our community, we are proud to continue a legacy of compassionate service that began right here in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Before HireLivin opened its doors in Dickson City, our founders, Marilyn Major and Ken Stewart, had already established a respected name in home care through their previous agency, At-Home Quality Care, founded in March 2010.

At-Home Quality Care served families throughout the region with compassion, personal attention, and a clear mission to help people maintain independence and dignity in the place they call home. Based in Clarks Summit, PA, the agency was locally owned and deeply rooted in Marilyn’s Five Core Values: Trust, Communication, Initiative, Positive Attitude, and Excellence.

As the agency grew, Marilyn and Ken built a dedicated leadership team to oversee operations and expand services, including live-in home care. One key member of that team was Cheryl Podhany, MA, who served as Clinical Operations Manager at At-Home Quality Care and is now our Administrator at HireLivin. Her experience in caregiver management and live-in coordination helped shape the high standards and dependable care that define our approach today.

When client needs began to evolve and the demand for personalized, around-the-clock home care increased, Marilyn and her team saw an opportunity to grow. From that vision came HireLivin Homecare, a new business that primarily serves private-pay live-in, hourly, and 24-hour care clients across Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Today, HireLivin Homecare is led by Marilyn Major, whose nursing background and leadership continue to guide our mission of excellence. She is joined by Jay Major, Business Manager, and Cheryl Podhany, Administrator. Together, this experienced team brings a shared dedication to supporting families throughout Pennsylvania and upholding the trust that so many clients have placed in them over the years.

Our mission is simple: to reduce stress, promote independence, and improve the quality of life for every client we serve. We live by the same five core values: Trust, Communication, Initiative, Positive Attitude, and Excellence which guide every decision we make, from hiring caregivers to caring for each client as if they were family.
